  • Expressing UNEVENESS in the distribution of security's amenties

  • Providing safer routes from familiar places around UBC

  • Understand the importance of "felt security" and its underlying effects on actual security

  • Proposition of map for places to be improved through 2 principles and simple factors : Lights and Emergency Blue Phones

UBC's grand pride in construction for a better tomorow as led to a worse today. We must have seen, heard, read about sexual assaults, we've probably put Safewalk's number in our phones, we've walked with our friends, we've stopped listenning to music while walking to hear every single sound after it gets dark, because you can't help it but be scared. What we haven't realized is how the root of all this comes down to the actual landscape and how one is suitably habilited with secure features or not. This paper will aim to show the uneveness underlying the present campus of UBC through several applications, such as Kernel Density Evaluation and the Viewshed Analysis. Presenting different factors of both inhibitors and prevailing of security will hopefully permit the importance of the subject adressed from a student's point of view.
